Optima Moving Company

My contact with Yuri and the worker-bees was pleasant and I received a military/senor discount. We moved from Walkersville, MD to Frederick, MD, about 10 miles. The movers showed up on time. Nothing else went well. An end table is scratched. I told them that if my computer desk wouldn't fit up the basement-to-outback stairs, I could take it apart. However, they did not try to protect it and kept trying to force it through the door, resulting in tearing off the veneer in a couple of places. Our entertainment console got scratched and the leather couch has multiple scratches; both of these were on the first floor. When the movers left, I had to sign the release even though the console and couch were covered with boxes so that I couldn't see any damage. Considering that there are a number of good reviews here, I must assume that success is dependent on the people doing the move. I would advise customers to keep a close eye on the procedures and speak up when they have any concerns.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $958

After requesting a move for 10:00 on a Saturday, we were scheduled for 9:00. The day before the move, I received a confirmation call stating that the crew would arrive between 7:30 and 8:00, so my wife and I got up very early to be prepared, but no one showed up. I called 2 different phone numbers, but no one answered. I wrote an email to the address I had used to schedule the move, but no one answered. Finally at 10:45 I discovered a second website (the same company, but a different website than I had used to contact them) with a third phone number. I called this number and got an answer. The office then confirmed that we had been scheduled for 9:00, but they didn't know where the truck was. It was 11:40 before the crew leader called me to say they were on the way. Once the crew arrived at 12:45 the move proceeded quickly and without incident. The guys were excellent. 
 
So, if you choose Optima, you are responsible for knowing what is going on. The management will not give you any information, so you have to specifically ask for anything you might need to know (like a phone number for when no one arrives). If you can handle this, Optima is very affordable, and the movers themselves are excellent.
 
tl;dr: Movers = Amazing, Management = Horrible (crew didn't show b/c of office mistake).

I have never written a bad review about any company before, since I am not the type to complain about little things. However, this company deserves it and I don't feel apologetic for it.

I am from another state and I was helping a very good friend move from her apartment on a Sunday, since that was the only day she could (She was getting the keys to her new apartment that same day and that same day she had to move). I scheduled with Optima on Friday to move on Sunday at around 10:30am. They said they could do at 1pm so I agreed. All this time I thought everything was running smoothly when my friend called me at 4pm to tell me they weren't there yet and she didn't have their phone number, but that someone had called her at noon to tell her that they had to finish another move before hers and that they wouldn't make it on time for hers, and asked her if they could reschedule for the next day, so she told them she HAD to move that day. They rescheduled for 4pm. My friend thought I knew about this since I was the one in charge of the scheduling and payment, but no one called me to tell me about any of this, except for her when they didn't show up on time. They had both my number and email. So I called them back to ask where they were. Then the dispatcher/scheduler/salesman told me they were running behind. It was 5:10pm when they movers got to my friends apartment. She needed to be out of her place by 7:00pm that night because that's when her babysitter had to drop off her little girls, something I didn't tell the movers since they had schedule for 1pm, and my friend also had other people helping her so 6/7hrs were definitely doable.

Also, they used some of their own supplies to wrap some of her things, carried the move down a "long, long way to the elevator and docking station" and the move was bigger than what I had told them. So they ended up charging me way more than what was estimated and never sent me any scan or copy of anything they signed over there. My friend was upset because they broke some glass items, tore the back of her leather sofa and broke one of her little girl's nightstand. I understand they might have been tired at that time, because they finished at around 11:30pm. It was supposed to be a 6/7 hr move starting at 1pm. So when I called the management (Marius) he pretty much told me that it was my fault because I scheduled a move on a Sunday and that is one of their busiest days, because barely anyone works Sundays( which is a lie because I had called more than 3 different other companies that did work Sundays, only Optima was the most affordable)..That moves sometimes take longer than planned, and a plethora of other excuses. In the end we were both aggravated and I just had to pay whatever they charged me because this was supposed to be a gift for a friend that turned into a nightmare. And I am still waiting for my invoice and paper work..

Service cost: $847

The represntative (Yuri) was really nice and accommodating when scheduling my move. Then move day came and I had a window from 9-11:00 for movers to show up. By 11:00 still nothing so I called to get an ETA. Was told by Yuri that he didn't know what was happening. Called back later to say they couldn't come that day and needed to be rescheduled to the following day. Many excuses and lies. Nothing made any sense. No concessions made even though I had to change all plans to get carpets cleaned, miss additional day of work, find child care for my 4 kids for another day that was unanticipated, etc. Yuri acted like it was no big deal that they decided not to show up and wouldn't respond to phone calls or email.

Movers did not wrap all furniture and dinged walls and furniture. Was told several times that it wasn't them (even when I watched them do it). Charged per roll of tape "used". Took it upon themselves to re-tape boxes already taped. Using excessive tape. Also started new roll with every box. I ended up with a few dozen half used rolls of tape on the floor including a couple that were untouched. Not a huge cost (for the tape) but was good indication of how they do business. Quotes are cheap for a reason. Buyer beware. Shady and unreliable folks.

Optima moving company helped us moved locally. (From Roland Park to Towson). They arrived at 7:00 am and finished by 6:00 pm. They were 4 young workers, extremely respectful and didn't waste any minute. They were careful and indeed helpful. They even helped us packed our closets. They did two trips. Once in the new house, they placed everything were we wanted and even installed beds and my baby's crib. The price was super reasonable and similar to the quote. They also brought all kind of packing materials. My husband and I were really pleased and definitely recommend this company. Thanks.

Service cost: $850

Optima moving sent a crew to move my friend from my garage apartment, they backed into the gutter and even though we watched it happen and they immediately got out of the truck and said "it wasn't me". Pictures were sent to the company and since it was winter I didn't have it fixed right away. I was given a move/case number by the company and verbally told to get it fixed and they would reimburse me, by the way I was shopping for a good price not to screw over their company. Well needless to say I got the work done for half of the original quote and now they refuse to pay. Thanks for messing up my gutter and not staying true to your word. Good thing I am not their final judge.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $150

Awesome group of respectable guys. There were 4 of them. They had my two bedroom FULL apartment packed in 2 hours and 20 minutes. I have a ridiculous amount of clothes and shoes and they packed it all.

They were worth every penny. I also gave them all a $25 tip each and I bought them sandwiches from WaWa to keep there strength up. Lol

I felt like family. Oh I had the full service move. All I had to do was point where I wanted everything to go. So I don't know why in the world I'm so tired the day after.

Stay away from this company. Optima Moving Company is a very unprofessional and shady moving company who should not be licensed to move anyone. They swindled and ROBBED me out of $200.00.

I contacted them in April 2018 to conduct a move for me from Arlington, Va to Maryland. They secured a $50.00 security deposit from me. They were unable to e-mail me a receipt for the deposit. After several unsuccessful attempts, I immediately requested for a cancellation and refund of my deposit. They advised me that they cancelled my request for moving service and e-mailed me copy of the refund of the deposit.

A couple of weeks later they sent a moving truck to my residence to move me. I advised Optima movers that I officially cancelled the moving request and they have a scheduling conflict. The movers contacted their office which advised me that it was a scheduling mix up on their part, they indeed had my cancellation on record, however, they failed to remove me from their schedule and they would leave without any charge.

One day later, I discovered that the Optima Moving Company improperly made a $200.00 unauthorized charge to my credit card. I contacted the company and they acknowledged their scheduling mix up but advised that they were not taking a loss for their time and effort regardless of it being their fault.

I demanded the return of the unauthorized $200.00 they charged to my credit card and they refused.

This company is unprofessional, shady and should not be in business. Please, please either use another reputable moving company or secure their shady and unprofessional business at your own risk.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $200

I was quoted $340 for 4 hrs. (85p/hr) and indeed they finished in 4 hrs. however, then they added another hour for travel time (which was actually only 20 mins) they tried to add $40 for tape and indeed added $40 for taking 2 beds apart and putting them back together at the new place (i was under the impression it was part of the charge)
while the 3 guys worked hard, Elmer, Santos and Carlos, I tipped them, but would not use this company again or recommend to anyone.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $465

I hire Optima for my move moving from my one bedroom apartment in downtown Baltimore to my new place in DC, from booking the move with Mario and sending the best Mover for my move it was pleasant experience. Movers showed on time, took they time to handle every item with great care dismantle my bed and sit up and arrange my bed and furniture at my new place. Could not ask for more!! Best part they price is they were very affordable. I did research and they rates were significantly lower than the competition. I highly recommend Optima to anyone looking for good and qualified mover.

Optima Moving came as highly recommended from my co-worker. I called few local companies before that, some of them offered an onside estimate as well over the phone. After doing enough research on my own I went with Optima, I spoke over the phone with Marius the owner of the company and we requested an onside estimate as our move was not small, I had 5 bedrooms and I needed them to do the packing as well for us, because of our busy work schedule. He was kind enough to accommodate us with our short notice move, and after coming to our house he estimated 8-9h for the move with 2 truck and 6 movers. A week later the movers showed up 8:00 am, I showed them the house and they started working right away, oh boy these Guys are fast I said to myself! Everything was as promised, they whapped all of our furniture packed our kitchen, and moved everything in a timely manner. I could not be happier that we went with Optima for our move, totally stress-free from the beginning to the end movers were super nice and helpful, but that is not all, movers finished the move in 7hours and we ended up paying even less than what originally we were ready to spend already. All other companies estimated me more than double the price what Optima had offered me and 11-12h for the move. I highly recommend to anyone looking to move anywhere locally in Maryland or in Virginia !!

The overall experience of having Optima Moving moving me and my family, went beyond my expectations. The movers were very efficient, they got the job done within the time frame, as they promised. All of my furniture were delivered safely without a single scratch. My Husband and I were simply amazed, just watching the movers doing their job, wrapping every single piece of furniture in our house with their brand new utility pads and on a top of that, protecting it with their plastic "shrink-wrap" material, we were truly impressed. Thank you, Optima Moving for a job WELL DONE.

It is not often that I take the time to write a review, however, I felt compelled to do so given the consistently exceptional moving and customer service I have received from Optima Moving on two occasions.My first experience with Optima Moving was in 2015 when I moved from Bethesda to DC. The move was worry free from start to finish from the initial call with Marius who explained the entire process to me in full user friendly detail to the delivery of boxes, tape and packing material to my home to the packing, transport and reassembly of my furniture in my new place. The move was comparably priced (if not a little less) than other moving services, and quoted as a flat rate which I loved. Additionally, with Optima Moving, you get so much more value all around given the courtesy, professionalism and efficiency of the team and one certainly cannot put a price tag on excellence. Because of my first wonderful experience with Marius and the Optima Moving Team in 2015, when I needed to move from DC to Baltimore this year, I did not even consider researching another moving service. I reached out to Marius and once again, he was extremely responsive, professional and customer focused as were the gentlemen who picked up my items in MD and those who delivered them safely to Baltimore. While I have moved several times previously, I have never had such a good experience with movers. For this reason and many others, I highly recommend Optima Moving without reservations and I am confident that if you select them to do your move, you, too will receive exceptional worry free service.

The absolute best movers I've used!!
They are the most pleasant and professional movers I've ever encountered. They wrap all of your furniture so thoroughly, you'd think they were moving their own prized pieces. Anything that you haven't packed at the time they arrive, gets packed. Well. And labeled. Another incredible benefit to using Optima Moving is that you can get all the packing supplies you need from their warehouse for no extra charge. Boxes of all shapes and sizes, tape, newsprint for wrapping delicate items -- all of it. No. Extra. Charge.

My first move with Optima Moving was an easy one. I only had a few pieces, but they were challenging to move and were valuable to me. They handled it with ease and professionalism. My second move was much more challenging, and is the reason I would recommend them to anyone. The move took twice as long as estimated (through no fault of Optima Moving). While the move stretched on hour after hour beyond the estimated time, the crew never considered cutting corners to save time. They continued on with their meticulous attention to detail. They also all maintained incredibly positive attitudes and excellent customer service throughout the entire move. This was particularly impressive at 1:30am, in the 12th hour of the move, when they elected to execute a heroic maneuver to get my oversized couch into my new home.
I will use Optima for every move (as long as they'll answer my calls, lol). It's like having your family and friends help you move if your family were professional movers.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1790

Optima Moving moved out small 5 x 11 storage unit in Gaithersburg to our home in Rockville. There were a few very large antique electronics and a considerable number of heavy boxes. All items were being moved to the downstairs using a set of French Doors in the back of our steep property.

We set up the appointment with Marius quickly via email - hassle free and professional. He quoted us the minimum time of 3 hours, plus 1 hour travel time ($120/hr) for 4 men, which was what we needed given the weight of some of our items and the time we wanted to devote to the job.

The four professional movers were courteous and careful. The movers arrived early, but waited until the agreed upon start time. They took care to tape hanging electrical plugs and put down a mat onto our new off-white basement carpet (not our first choice of color!). In total the move took under 2 hours and we had plenty of time to start unpacking. The price was reasonable given the number and size of items. The movers were polite and efficient.

We were very happy with the care they used and their efficient move. We would definitely use them again!

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $480

We have moved a lot and used many big-name moving companies, but never the same one twice. That changes with Optima. The service and professionalism were exceptional. They came on time and informed regarding move details and went straight to work. We had four stops to take furniture from storage, then from our home, and then two drop off points. Everything was done so efficiently including coordinating loading to facilitate efficient unloading at each stop. Optima's website states that they take the stress out of moving, and they absolutely lived up to that promise. When the move was finished, we thought, wow, that was fantastic! Took great care with our furniture and pulled off the move without a single glitch even though there were a few obstacles, such as competing with commuters for the elevator because the freight elevator was the only one in service. They worked everything out themselves. We have other things in storage for a separate move and will look no further than Optima because stress free works for us.

Marius was my contact from estimate to final. They stayed true to their word with their timing.   most importantly, all three workers were extremely professional, very efficient and wasted no time. They took extreme good care of everything in my house. they were also amazing when they placed everything in mine 10x 15 storage space. their efficiency, expertise, and care lifted all my concerns and fears.   I highly recommend them. I Weill definitely be calling them for my return. .
